Omschrijving
Marc de Montifaud (ca. 1850-ca. 1912), née Marie Amélie Chartoule, was a French feminist author and poet who wrote under a male ‘nom de plume’. This book is a reprint of part of the larger 17th century erotic work, “Amours des dames illustres de nostre siècle”, with an additional essay where Montifaud tries to unravel the authorship (usually attributed to Pierre Corneille Blessebois). For publishing this book Montifaud was sentenced to 8 days in prison and fined 500 francs. All copies were ordered to be destroyed. Ref. Gay/ Lemonnyer I, p.67.
